Tricolor OTT service passes one million users milestone
The number of active users of Russian pay TV leader Tricolor TV’s OTT TV service, which launched earlier this year, has surpassed the one million mark, or 8% of the company’s base.
Tricolor, which is predominantly received via satellite, said total watch-time on the OTT platform exceeded one billion minutes in October, with users watching online content for four hours a day.
The OTT service provides 126 live channels, including 34 HD services, recommendation, rewind, pause and catch-up functionality. The company plans to tap the user data to offer more personalised TV services and boost its share of TV viewing by up to 50%, it said.
“We can confidently say that in OTT television Tricolor has become one of the leaders in the Russian market. We are seeing an increase in online viewing on all platforms: especially on smartphones and tablets. Media consumption over the internet is becoming a common source of entertainment for an increasing number of customers. We expect that in the next few months we will see continued growth in the number of OTT customers. In turn, we will continue to replenish content libraries and offer our users new online services,” said Denis Maimistov, Tricolor development director.
