A1 Hrvatska eyes streaming service
Croatia’s second largest telco A1 Hrvatska plans to launch a new streaming service in early 2020.
Quoted by Poslovni, Vladimir Skender, the company’s director of development and planning, said that it has started testing a new TV platform with a new personalised user interface.
Although A1 Hrvatska already operates an IPTV platform under the Xplore brand, the new service will be able to offer much more, such as the Champions League in 4K.
A1 Hrvatska has the infrastructure that supports this and the question at group level is whether to launch the service in all countries at once.
Skender added that Croatia is already the centre for OTT services for the entire A1 group, having 200,000 users.
While he refused to say if the new service would compete directly with Netflix and HBO Go, he revealed that it would not be limited to videos, movies and TV content and also offer games, applications and other content.
