SYNOPSIS
WITHOUT A DOUBT is Ed Clark by Ed Clark, a visionary 20th-century abstract painter who spent decades knowing his work was extraordinary, long before the art world caught up. Overlooked for much of his career, Clark pushed abstraction into new territory with the movement of an ordinary janitor’s broom that evolved into his pioneering technique.

Formidable and infectious, Clark is the unequivocal narrator whose voice carries viewers through nearly seven decades of artistry. From New York to Paris and far beyond, Clark perfected his signature push-broom technique and solidified his place within the canon of abstract art. With humor and clarity, he reflects on aging, the discipline of creation, and the certainty he held onto for years—his work was great, he never doubted it.

As Clark speaks, his story moves from portrait to continuum—slipping between past and present, memory and reflection. What emerges is the interior logic of his work: abstraction as freedom, as expression, and as refusal to be confined. While his presence remains central, additional voices—artists of today shaped by his path and those who knew him personally—form an immersive conversation across time.
