With only nine fluent Elders remaining, the Haíɫzaqv First Nation is racing to teach the next generation their Indigenous language. Hopeful and intimate, WE’RE ALL WE GOT is an observational documentary that reveals what it’s like growing up in a community fighting for its future.
SYNOPSIS
An Indigenous coming-of-age story, WE’RE ALL WE GOT immerses us into the lives of Haíɫzaqv youth for one year as they participate in immersive land-based language programs. Told in the voices of the next generation, this verite film follows youth learning their Nation’s language and history while also navigating the universal ups and downs that come with getting older.
Will they learn the language? Will they make their parents proud? Will they make their community proud? WE’RE ALL WE GOT reveals the power of young people and the importance of knowing where you come from.
