    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
A modern day, vulnerable teenage girl experiences delusion, broken trust, and questions of self-worth as a result of being coerced and manipulated by a subculture seeking to exploit her.

    SYNOPSIS
This project is an anthology of six short films, each having a running time less than five minutes. These are narrative-structured stories about delusion, trust, and other common abstract relational components that are core to the recovery of victims of complex trauma. In a style that is understated and quiet, each story embarks on seemingly everyday interactions that underscore the moments where trust, worth, delusions, etc., is broken, lost or unseen.

In each story a protagonist experiences seemingly everyday encounters—going to work, hanging out with her best friend, etc.—but the relational interactions reveal the strain and conflict that occur in a subtextual manner.

The main character is a teenage girl (16-17 years in age) who is over-responsible due to the lack of caregiver attention from parents and relatives. She bears the load of school, being a teenager and managing the house. With nobody to help, she is overwhelmed and the things she desires are out of reach—friendships, normalcy, a birthday party. Each film will reveal the protagonist in a situation where a core theme is being explored (trust, worth, delusion, etc.).

Each film opens with the protagonist at the best possible state, and she arcs into the influences that she believes turn her into something worse than what she was at the beginning. The plot points are the moments she interacts with strangers, co-workers, people less known to her. She readily adopts behaviors and thoughts that normally would be met with discernment, self-reflection and cross-examined by counsel from other trusted sources (friends, books, family).

Upon viewing a film, the viewer can discuss with a licensed therapist their experiences as they relate to the protagonist. This conversation will contribute to the healing journey of the viewer.
