SYNOPSIS
Filmed over several years, THE KID delves deeply into the life of a sixteen-year-old cowboy as he comes of age and attempts to go pro in the dangerous sport of bull riding. Set in the dramatic landscape of the San Juan mountain range in Southwestern Colorado, the film follows Luke, a rebellious teenager raised by his cowboy grandpa after the family suffers a tragic loss. Filmed in cinema vérité style and drawing inspiration from the Western film genre, THE KID explores identity and sacrifice across multiple generations in the modern rural American West. Tracking Luke and his grandpa over several years of intense competition and evolving interpersonal relationships, THE KID is a visually rich and intimate coming-of-age story, portraying the bond between a grandfather and the rebellious kid he loves like a son.
