    The StrongerWorks Short Film Series
    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
A series of short films exposing barriers and impediments facing everyday entrepreneurs in the Lowcountry and showing potential solutions to help those entrepreneurs build and grow their businesses.

    SYNOPSIS
THE STRONGERWORKS SHORT FILM SERIES is a short-form documentary series that examines why hardworking small-business owners struggle to survive and grow in the Lowcountry.

The film will highlight several types of entrepreneurs and seek to focus on underrepresented demographics. Rather than focusing on a single entrepreneur or business profile, the series will use human, real-world storytelling to reveal the broader conditions that shape business successes and hurdles.

Each film centers on a critical pillar of the local economic ecosystem, beginning with access to working capital, then expanding to housing, health care, and childcare—elements that are rarely discussed as business issues but are essential to long-term economic stability and community growth.

The series will be driven by real voices of local entrepreneurs, employees/families, and community partners who experience these challenges firsthand. Their stories and insights will show that barriers to success are the result of current structural gaps in financial access, resources, and business support.

We will aim to introduce entrepreneurs at pivotal moments in their business lifecycle. This could include the decision to launch a business, trying to scale it, or fighting to stay open and retain employees. A focus on employees and families will highlight the broader effects that business sustainability can have on entire communities.
