ABOUT THE PROJECT
LOGLINE
A mosaic portrait of the Teamster labor union’s massive campaign to organize 350,000 UPS workers across the United States in a collective fight for dignity and safety on the job.
SYNOPSIS
UPS, America’s largest package delivery service, sits at a vital fulcrum in the global supply chain - moving 6% of the country’s GDP on a daily basis. The Teamsters union has represented UPS workers for over a century and with 1.2 million members total, the Teamsters are one of the most commendable (and notorious) forces in the modern labor movement. Through spring and summer 2023, a riveting and historic labor battle transpired as the union mounted increasing pressure on UPS to improve working conditions or face the might of 350,000 UPS workers walking off the job and grinding the U.S. economy to a halt.
With unprecedented access to union leadership and rank-and-file membership, we see a rare, holistic portrait of the entire labor organization: witnessing the dramatic arcs of union president Sean O’Brien and warehouse workers and delivery drivers in New York City, San Diego, California, and Louisville, Kentucky, as they bolster a unified front worthy of building UPS leaders to their knees. Demonstrating in real-time how consequential strategic decisions are implemented across the union, this multi-character, multi-location documentary gives viewers a sense of the profound complexity and power of a collective organizing campaign. Intimately following the powerful journey of everyday workers as they go toe-to-toe with a global logistics giant, audiences behold the risks and rewards of true solidarity.
