Silver Lake Shorts
ABOUT THE PROJECT

LOGLINE
SILVER LAKE SHORTS is a monthly, free (submissions and admissions) screening series featuring Los Angeles filmmakers aimed at boosting the local independent film scene.

SYNOPSIS
SILVER LAKE SHORTS screens 120 minutes of short films and animations made predominantly by Los Angeles filmmakers every month at the historic Silver Lake venue, El Cid.

Each event fills to the 120 person capacity with RSVPs filling up within hours. For Friday screenings, SILVER LAKE SHORTS extends to an audience of 200 people. SILVER LAKE SHORTS is free to submit to and attend, opening the film festival experience to all, regardless of financial limitations.

Rather than focusing on the professional status, influence of the filmmaker, budget or production value, SILVER LAKE SHORTS features works that contain clear intent, voice and perspective. SILVER LAKE SHORTS showcases all genres, styles and tones, and aims to celebrate the artist’s unobstructed vision.

By offering fellowships to local filmmakers in the form of financial and advisory support, SILVER LAKE SHORTS seeks to empower emerging filmmakers to make the films they want to make. Outside of the regular monthly screening series, SILVER LAKE SHORTS works with different community organizations to feature the work of marginalized groups.
