ABOUT THE PROJECT
LOGLINE
Since 2019 at the Cannes Film Festival, Pavillon Afronova connects Africa and its diaspora with the global film industry through screenings, networking, and partnerships that expand creative and economic horizons.
SYNOPSIS Pavillon Afronova is the premier platform dedicated to African cinema and its diaspora at the Cannes Film Festival, held each May within the prestigious Marché du Film. Founded in 2019, the Pavilion has become an essential meeting place where global producers, investors, and creators converge to celebrate, promote, and invest in African storytelling. Each edition offers a vibrant program of screenings, masterclasses, panels, and business sessions focused on film financing, co-production, and distribution. The Pavilion also honors Africa’s creative diversity through fashion, literature, music, and gastronomy, emphasizing cinema as a driver of cultural diplomacy and sustainable development. Recognized by partners such as TV5 Monde, Canal+, OIF, and the French Institute, Pavillon Afronova has welcomed over 3,000 professionals annually, 64 participating countries, and a cumulative audience exceeding 60 million viewers. Esteemed figures including Mo Abudu, Tonya Williams, and Aïssa Maïga have praised its transformative impact on the international perception of African cinema. Donations through The Film Collaborative’s fiscal sponsorship directly support year-round initiatives: By supporting Pavillon Afronova, donors and partners play a vital role in strengthening creative ecosystems across Africa and its diaspora, while gaining association with one of the most visible cultural showcases at Cannes. Every contribution fuels the Pavilion’s mission to connect talent with opportunity, ensuring that African stories continue to illuminate screens worldwide — not as a side narrative, but as a central force shaping the future of global cinema.
