    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
In the wake of a disastrous proposal, a gay guy and his best girlfriend decide to give up on monogamy and try an open relationship—with each other.

    SYNOPSIS
Travis and Sarah have been best friends since high school, back when Travis was still in the closet, and Sarah still thought he was the perfect guy to lose her virginity to. Needless to say it didn’t go as planned, but a decade later they’re still inseparable and find themselves at a friend’s wedding, both questioning if this is what finding “the One” is supposed to look like. Sarah’s been single for most of her adult life, and Travis is three years into a relationship with his boyfriend, David whom he’s still not 100% sure is “the One.” However, after the reception, David accidentally proposes to Travis. Travis panics and runs to Sarah. Sarah panics too, and in this perfect storm of anxiety and intimacy, the two best friends accidentally hook up.

In the aftermath of their tryst, both Travis and Sarah’s lives unravel. But they inevitably find their way back to one another and realize perhaps neither of them are built for the one-size-fits-all model of love. Maybe there is no “One” out there for them. No one perfect person. Maybe the reason no one has ever felt like enough is because they’re looking for more than one. As this idea clicks into place for both of them, Travis and Sarah realize maybe it’s time to let go of monogamy and try something new, a relationship that is bespoke to them and the love they’re actually looking for.

OPEN SEASON is a love letter to the queer and poly communities as well as to anyone who’s ever doubted that they’ll find “the One.”
