    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
MARIPOSA (Spanish for “butterfly”) is a digital app designed to make transformation sweeter, while shining a light on the declining monarch butterfly population due to climate change.

    SYNOPSIS

MARIPOSA is a story-driven app that invites others to create their own journey. The objective of the app is to reach the center of the game (the center of oneself) and become a butterfly.

Grief is a most powerful human phenomenon under the spectrum of mental health—unchecked grief can lead to a number of health concerns from suicide to depression, to alcoholism and addiction. 8 million people suffered through the death of someone in their immediate family last year. 1.2 million children will lose a parent to death before the age of 15. The app will be made available to hospitals/hospices, churches, grief/addiction/trauma centers, prisons, climate/mental health communities and employee training for corporations and organizations.

MARIPOSA will be launched in partnership with the Women’s Earth Alliance. WEA equips women with the skills and tools they need to protect our earth and strengthen our communities from the inside out. Since 2006, they have launched in 20 countries, have 230 grassroots partners and have trained over 1 Million women leaders. We will also target national and local media to spread awareness and launch a global call to action, giving people everyday actions they can take to combat climate change.

MARIPOSA is inspired by the feature film, Sisters of the Pupa, an inspiring story about two unlikely women who take a road trip to meet the mythical, magical Lazarus of the Butterflies and after the shooting death of the writer/director’s brother. The app will be developed/produced in collaboration with a certified mental health practitioner as a tool to be used worldwide

MARIPOSA is an invitation for healing and social change.
