ABOUT THE PROJECT
SYNOPSIS
When Ivy, a fiery young woman with a severe traumatic brain injury, is placed in Love Land Ranch, a private institution for people with disabilities, she fights bitterly to prove to the world—and to herself—that she’s better than the “Special People” for whom she believes a life apart from mainstream society is appropriate. But when she is finally faced with the reality of her limitations, Ivy must make a choice: will she choose to stand with pride in her new identity, or will she wither up in shame and self-defeat?
Love Land is about the importance of diverse, accessible, and inclusive communities for every person, regardless of identity or label. With the guidance and support of renowned authors, activists, scholars, and service providers throughout the nation, Love Land is more than a movie. It’s part of a movement.
