ABOUT THE PROJECT
LOGLINE
Looky Looky Pictures connects the power of film with the power of people, by helping filmmakers reach their films most passionate audience through powerful partnerships, teaching filmmakers, and impactful social change campaigns.
SYNOPSIS
LOOKY LOOKY PICTURES has served over 1,000 documentary filmmakers worldwide—from workshops to producing multi-year impact campaigns—and serving stories that go beyond empathy; building solidarity with the communities they serve.
LOOKY LOOKY PICTURES launched the Guided Campaign program; a 6-month impact accelerator that teaches filmmakers how to run their impact campaign and guides them through producing at least one impact event during that time. It’s completely different from any other impact program for filmmakers because it’s designed to serve the story and the filmmaker rather than the cadence or needs of an organization. For example, there are no cohorts. Instead, filmmakers are each on their own 6-month timelines, so they can join at any time, so there is no need to wait for an application period. There is also no cap, so our current capacity is up to 100 filmmakers annually.
95% of filmmaker reach their goal, of at least one transformational impact event during the program, which have resulted in: a film protagonist who is a domestic violence survivor being released from prison, 7,900 households tuned in to a TV broadcast about Black joy in the outdoors, a VIP sneak peek screening (also known as a “Braintrust”) hosted entirely for deaf participants, a visibility campaign for spouse on dependent visas, international screening tour during Autism Awareness month, and more.
What filmmakers have said:
“In my 12 years of independent documentary filmmakers, your program is the greatest support I have ever experienced! Thank you for everything you do, and keep up your amazing work.” —Mae Thornton Mehra
“The Guided Campaign is a great way to take charge of your film’s life, instead of waiting for the gatekeepers of festivals and distributors. It’s helped me move forward with confidence.” —Jennifer Huang
