    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
A short film about a short pregnancy, we follow Dana as she grapples with having to end her non-viable pregnancy, ultimately choosing an unorthodox route to acceptance.

    SYNOPSIS
We meet Dana in the throes of isolation. She is trying to navigate her emotions while reconciling the impending loss of her pregnancy, which she will have to initiate with Misoprostol, an over-the-counter drug used to induce miscarriage. When her husband leaves town for work, she finally allows herself to experience the breadth of her feelings, wretched with grief, venting into her pillow.

Until an idea strikes her…she plays make-believe with the pillow, gingerly stuffing it under her nightgown. The feeling is good, a reprieve. She decides to go further, with the help of a newly-acquired fake baby bump.

We watch as she spends a day indulging in this fantasy in idyllic Santa Barbara, basking in admiring glances, chatting with shopkeepers, accepting well wishes from strangers on her ‘pregnancy.’ She gives herself this gift, if only for a day.

Ultimately though, she knows she must acknowledge the truth and as the sun sets on her special day, we see Dana shedding her clothes and the belly and wading into the tumultuous waves of the Pacific Ocean, ready to face her reality head on and find acceptance.
