LOGLINE
Leonard Peltier, one of the surviving leaders of the American Indian Movement, has been in prison for 50 years following a contentious conviction. A new generation of Native activists is committed to winning his freedom before he dies.

SYNOPSIS
FREE LEONARD PELTIER is a documentary on contemporary efforts to gain freedom for Leonard Peltier, a formidable leader of the American Indian Movement who has been jailed for 50 years for a crime that everyone—even the prosecutor who won his conviction, even the judge who upheld his sentence—now admits he didn’t do. As he continues to serve his sentence in a maximum-security prison, Leonard Peltier remains a symbol of resilience, activism, and the enduring fight for justice in the face of adversity.
