    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
A struggling actor’s insecurities are tested when he heads to Palm Springs for his best friend’s birthday weekend, only to realize it’s at a gay clothing-optional resort and he’s pitted against his BFF’s infuriatingly hot coworker.

    SYNOPSIS
Dario is idling in his LA acting career and his life in general. The one constant in Dario’s life is his close-knit, yet codependent relationship with his best friend Jamie. But when Jamie’s ambitious new coworker Q begins opening doors to a brighter future, including a potential move to London, Dario fears their shared life is slipping away.

Things come to a head during Jamie’s birthday getaway at a Palm Springs clothing-optional resort. The resort’s colorful cast—including a wisecracking custodian, a sexually liberated group of regulars, and a charming bartender who sparks an unexpected connection—challenge Dario’s assumptions about himself and others. In a desperate attempt to keep Jamie from leaving, Dario decides he must turn Q into the villain.

The weekend quickly spirals into a series of absurd misadventures, where Dario is challenged to bear himself physically and emotionally. Will he embrace change, or let his competitive insecurities jeopardize the most important parts of his life?

FIRST RESORT is an ensemble comedy that celebrates the liberation of queer cultural spaces and then asks, “Where else can queer communities find freedom—and intimacy?” What could life look like if we felt free in our bodies? As industry divides people and technology commodifies them, Dario’s mistakes will uncover new layers in the meaning of Love. Joy is the best tool to clear the confused, jaded, and authoritarian atmosphere of today. Like a queer Trojan Horse, this buck-naked comedy takes deep questions to the audience’s heart.
