ABOUT THE PROJECT
LOGLINE
DRAGON WOMEN? is portraying women working in finance in Europe and the US. They will tell us how they survive in the most competitive sector in the world.
SYNOPSIS
Laetitia, Alison, Amanda, Milyae, Tatiana and Marie-Laure have all fought to be where they are and most of them intend to keep going up the corporate ladder. DRAGON WOMEN? is a kaleidoscopic series of portraits that creates a form of conversation between ambitious yet very different women as they discuss and show us their relationship to work, men, family, and gender equality.
We will see them at work, managing their teams, undergoing tremendous stress while keeping up appearances for their clients and board meetings. They will tell us how they got addicted to the fast- paced culture of finance, its luxuries, the bonuses, the hyper-specialized lingo, the notion of being part of a certain elite.
They will describe situations of discrimination and harassment and how they coped with them. We will see and hear the awkward introductions during meetings, the odd interactions at the coffee machine, these uncomfortable events that they’ve learned to accept as their daily load of ordinary sexism.
While some see themselves as queenbees, others have become sharks; most of them fear the term dragon. We will see why Wall Street is a jungle and in what ways these women have morphed into ‘men’ in order to stay in the game. During women networking events, the seniors will talk about the absence of female examples when they were starting and how the lack of mentorship affected who they became. The juniors will discuss their future with them. At home, we will dive into their intimacy, we will see how these alpha women deal with their partners, family and help, we will get a sense of how far their desire for control and power can go. They will share with us their dreams and fears for the future.
