ABOUT THE PROJECT
LOGLINE
After a couple arrives in a plaster workshop, an unsuccessful artist creates her best work yet; a sculpture that immortalizes the lovers forever.
SYNOPSIS
CARVE is a dark comedy short film that plays themes of intimacy and ambition. It centers around Bea, a 25 year old recent art school graduate, who hasn’t had much success with her personal art. She works in a plaster shop to make a living, but dreams of her own career as a sculptor.
On a day like any other, something twisted occurs. A loving couple arrives in the shop to order a personalized sculpture that celebrates their bond. A shift in Bea’s behavior occurs as something in the couple’s behavior triggered her own struggles with intimacy, having recently broken up with her ex.
In an almost performative way, she starts sculpting and playing with the couple, as they are surrendered in the mold process. Bea almost explores the idea of being part of their relationship. At the same time she is creating the art piece of a lifetime, completely in control, focussed and obsessive.
Her manic state drives her to a point where she eventually immortalizes them forever, suffocating the couple and creating a new sculpture out of their incaptured dead bodies. Their love is solidified to infinity.
