ABOUT THE PROJECT
LOGLINE
Suddenly abandoned by her narcissistic father, a people-pleasing young caretaker unexpectedly befriends a grieving, childless man with the same name as her father on Facebook. Inspired by a true story.
SYNOPSIS
BOB TREVINO LIKES IT is inspired by the true, unexpected friendship that writer/director Tracie Laymon found when looking for her father online.
Ever-attentive to those around her and too often finding herself taking on the role of caretaker to those who should be caring for her, the film’s hero, LILY TREVINO, secretly longs for a familial connection that she has lacked her entire life, having been abandoned by her mother at three and then suddenly by her father in her twenties.
BOB TREVINO works long hours alone at a construction company in order to support his wife Jeanie’s scrapbooking habit. As a couple, the two have endured a lot in the past decade. Bob has sought to put his wife first, to the point of ignoring his own feelings and need for friendship, meaning, and connection, That is, until he gets a Facebook message from a stranger.
Lily and Bob’s blossoming friendship becomes a vital source of connection and healing in both of their lives. Bob’s small acts of fatherly kindness hold the power to change Lily’s life forever and fill a void in her life. In their own ways, these two must both learn that they are worthy of an extraordinary love exemplified in small acts of kindness.
This film will explain how little things we say and do matter, even if we never get to see the results. A chosen family story to its core, BOB TREVINO LIKES IT is about learning to let go of the people who continually hurt us in order to make room for the people who want to love us.
