    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
    An aging folk musician in India struggles to pass on his syncretic storytelling tradition, while his friend, an outspoken politician, contests a make-or-break election in their conservative village.

    SYNOPSIS
    Set in an embattled region of India just outside New Delhi, this feature documentary explores what is lost when cultural memory fades and what it takes to keep a complex, plural identity alive in a world increasingly defined by ballots and religious beliefs.

    Following two men through a pivotal year, BETWEEN TWO WORLDS is an intimate, grassroots portrait of the world’s largest democracy, and an exploration of indigenous traditions of coexistence which existed long before secularism and tolerance arrived as imported frameworks.

    Themes: Voices from the Margins, Identity and Politics, Indigenous Knowledge, Cultural Survival and Coexistence

    Note from the filmmakers: There’s a lot more to this story and these characters. As a documentary still in production, we want to maintain the integrity of our vérité filmmaking process, so we’re limiting what we release into the public sphere at this stage.
