ABOUT THE PROJECT
LOGLINE
Two exes reunite in Rome to reflect on the decade since they were last together.
SYNOPSIS
ALLORA emerges from personal human experience where questions of connection, loss, and self-discovery are challenged and feel especially important. It follows two people grappling with the fragility of relationships and the challenge of moving forward without losing touch with your past. It challenges the universal question of: can exes really be friends? Can two people let go of their ego well enough to be friends?
Writer, Director, and Producer Courtenay Johnson believes that the most profound and resonant art comes from personal experience. ALLORA, is the ultimate expression of this principle. It’s a story drawn from her own life, yet its themes of love, loss, and self-discovery are universal, allowing it to speak to a wide and diverse audience. The film is set in Rome, but this serves as far more than a backdrop. The city of Rome is a vital, living character within the story. Its timeless sense of romance provides the perfect atmosphere for a film navigating the complexities of romance, the past and the challenges of moving forward.
