    The Right to be Forgotten
    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
When a victim of cyberattacks seeks justice against her aggressor, she finds herself powerless in face of a system that doesn’t grasp the long-term, painful implication of online assaults.

    SYNOPSIS
This film tells the story of Alexa, a young woman, whose life was broken by years of cyberattacks driven by her ex-fiancé, Cedric, a Belgian geek she met at a video chat studio she was briefly working for. Alexa has powerlessly witnessed for years how her intimate and private life were trashed and exposed all over the Internet. The pain and the shame following these online assaults led by Cedric crashed her life and her family’s alike. Alexa’s mother lost her hair following a thyroid disorder triggered by her daughter’s unspeakable drama. Alexa’s brother needed therapy and refused to go to school. Their father won’t talk to her for years. Within months, Alexa lost all her friends, and almost all her family turned against her. Isolated and unable to find a job she went back to the studio she worked for, this time not as a model but as a trainer for girls and travesties. It wasn’t until Alexa met her husband that she decided to seek justice, bring her aggressor to Court and finish her architecture studies. Four years later, despite the evidence she gathered against Cedric, the Police did nothing to pursue an investigation. Now an architect, wife and mother of a 3-years-old boy, Alexa can’t have her own online business and life. She is living with the fear of Cedric’s come back as he promised her he shall wait for her boy to grow up to tell him “what a whore his mother is.” This film explores the invisible drama that one can live due to online attacks and how fragile we all are in the face of an unseen evil coming from beyond a computer screen, when neither the authorities nor the society grasp the real consequences of it.
