Laced
ABOUT THE PROJECT

LOGLINE
On the evening of a record-breaking blizzard, a young wife’s plans to kill her abusive husband begin to unravel.

SYNOPSIS
LACED is a modern Thriller/Drama in the vein of hitchcockian classics like Dial M for Murder and Rear Window. Set in a single location, the piece explores the claustrophobic nature of young love strung with toxicity and lies, and the cyclical nature of violence.

The film opens with our lead protagonist, Molly, cooking dinner for her husband Charlie during one of Colorado’s record-breaking blizzards. But the course of the evening divulges a starkly different relationship than what their warm rural home suggests: Molly, with the help of Victoria, the woman she’s having an affair with, poisons her husband’s shepherd's pie. After the poison fails to take hold, Molly calls upon Victoria who finishes the deed even after Charlie pleads for his own life.

This premeditated evening continues to unravel when Molly’s brother Austin arrives unexpectedly to watch the Broncos game with his brother-in-law and childhood best friend. Horrified that she has involved her brother in the crime, Molly confesses that her marriage was fraught with emotional, verbal, and physical abuse. As the course of the evening progresses, charged with paranoia, Molly realizes that the act she believed to be her way out may have locked her in an inescapable game of devastating strategy.
