    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
    A day at an Iranian governmental office spirals out of control when a male customer with ulterior motives is unhappy with the passport photo taken by a female employee.

    SYNOPSIS
    Work is the testimony of one’s freedom, limits, and overall power in any political system. To the keen eye, the workplace reveals where the government stands regarding individuals with different backgrounds and identities within society compared to the people. Most of the time, these two entities overlap, and sometimes they don’t.

    In Iranian society today, this gap is so substantial that it’s hard to imagine for an outsider, especially since the Iranian government has closed Iran’s door to most of the world and controls its image through censorship, and political activism has distorted this image even further. Iran has an exceptionally progressive, ever-active, and vibrant society.

    Our film is a glimpse into this world and tries to make sense of contradictions seen from the outside. It describes and exhibits the inner movements pushing society forward through a simple universal story relatable to anyone anywhere in the world because CRIMSON, after all, is a “love story.”

    This hidden and invisible romance is very telling.
