    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
Following four skateboarders on their journey towards the Tokyo Olympics, BOARDERS captures what it means to be a skateboarder in this historical moment, when the stakes are higher for everyone involved.

    SYNOPSIS
BOARDERS is a personal character-driven story following the aspiring GB Skateboarding team as they prepare for the upcoming Olympics where skateboarding will make its debut as a competition sport.

Through following the Team GB skateboarders, the film portrays a varied view of what it means to be a skateboarder in this historical moment in time; a profession which comes with its own set of demands, including constant travel, job insecurity, frequent injuries and pressures on mental health.

Traditionally viewed as a way of life, rather than a sport, the film opposes a key thematic question which has been the biggest talking point in skateboarding in recent years: will skateboarding change as a result of the Olympics? Through a mixture of archive footage ranging multiple decades, the film delves into the waves of popularity experienced in the past, to determine if what we are experiencing is just another craze.
