Dear Collaborators,

We're proud to announce the official launch of THE FILM COLLABORATIVE, as our website is out of beta! Thanks to all who provided feedback on prior versions.

Accordingly, we have some updates and exciting announcement for you!

Introducing TFC's Suite of Online Resource Tools for Filmmakers. We call it:

    • We've worked really hard on the digital distribution guide, and since people tell us it's an invaluable resource for them…it's time for it to go “members only.” So if you haven't done so already, please join TFC…it will help us to continue to expand this resource and many other of TFC's endeavors, which, in turn, we hope will help everybody empower themselves as filmmakers. If you already signed up (thank you!), you'll be getting your dd guide access invitation soon. If you're a member of the press or affiliated with a TFC platform, or if you simply have any questions or comments, please email us for access.

    • The TFC Blog, written by our resident distribution maven Orly Ravid, focuses on what's new in distribution & the digital distribution world. The blog continues to be offered complimentary to all.

    • In addition to our TFC Blog and Digital Distribution Guide, we've launched a new forum, called Distributor ReportCard™ (what we were formerly calling “Yelp for Distributors”). It's your chance to SCHOOL THE DISTRIBUTORS! This wiki (free account required to post comments, and accounts are anonymous by default) provides a space to write reviews, share your experiences and learn from other filmmakers' and producers' successes or mistakes. Each entry includes a brief overview of each distributor and "discussion" tab where you can share your opinions. We think it's a great additional community resource, but it's dependent on filmmaker input, so if you've had some experience with any distributors on the list, please take the time to rate them. And feel free to email us if you'd like a specific distributor added to the list…please note that is only a preliminary list of about 25 distributors and we'll be adding more distributors on a regular basis.

We're Non-Profit, on Purpose. We've been very committed to maintaining a low overhead, direct funds to filmmakers, and not rely on fundraising in order to maintain our own existence. We're proud to note that one of our filmmaker's investors donated office space to TFC, and therefore, given that and our Partner structure, we really do have a low overhead. However, we're now doing a bit of fundraising via our friends and distribution partner indieGoGo and Distribber because implementing our new site, maintaining the educational & networking tools and resources we offer, as well as building our upcoming DIY marketing and distribution tools and platform all cost money. So we ask you to please help support us if you can. Any amount helps, and even visiting indieGoGo site will give it more visibility on the site.
