ABOUT THE FILM:
The 2008 presidential elections in Ghana, West Africa, serve as a backdrop for this feature documentary that looks behind-the-scenes at the complex, political machinery of a third world democracy struggling to legitimize itself to its first world contemporaries. At stake in this race are the fates of two political parties that will do almost anything to win. Director Jarreth Merz follows the key players for almost three months to provide an unprecedented insider’s view of the political, economic and social forces at work in Ghana. He builds suspense by taking the viewer down the back roads of the nation to capture each unexpected twist and turn in a contest that is always exciting and never predictable. Throughout the film, Merz depicts the pride and humanity of the larger-than-life politicians, party operatives and citizens who battle for the soul of their country.

ABOUT THE FILM:
Busong is the indigenous Palawan concept of Fate or instant Karma. Nature reacts instantly to man's disrespect of nature and other men. Punay was born with wounds on her feet so that she cannot step on the earth. Her brother, Angkadang, carries her on a hammock, as he searches the changing landscape of Palawan hoping to find a healer. Different people help him carry his sister along the way- a woman looking for her husband, a fisherman who lost his boat and a young man who is searching for himself- and each one meets their fate. The first Palawanon indigenous film.

ABOUT THE FILM:
WOMAN’S PICTURE is an anthology film set in the present but inspired by classic women’s films of the thirties, forties, and fifties. The story is divided into three sections, each of which revolve around its own specific female character. The segments function as parallel dimensions, exploring the often tense relationships between mothers and daughters. Each section is named after and inspired by an iconic perfume, WOMAN’S PICTURE is Brian Pera’s second feature film. His first film, The Way I See Things, premiered at Outfest in 2008.
