It is every filmmaker’s dream to get their film distributed, and in today’s global marketplace, this is often as or more challenging than getting one’s movie made. Distribution is extremely difficult to achieve without filmmaker-friendly help, education, and guidance through the many opportunities and pitfalls in the contemporary landscape.

It is in this spirit that we would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to
THE FILM COLLABORATIVE.

THE FILM COLLABORATIVE is the first non-profit, full-service provider dedicated to distribution-education and the facilitation of independent films in the distribution marketplace (both narrative and documentary).

We offer a full range of affordable services, including distribution and marketing advice to independent filmmakers without exploiting or usurping the filmmaker’s intellectual property rights.

THE FILM COLLABORATIVE advocates for filmmakers and provides an array of resources to guide them as they navigate the landscape of new distribution opportunities, reach out to audiences, network and trade experiences with other filmmakers, and master the new tools required to compete in the growing digital distribution minefield.

Such resources include a menu of free and/or low-cost educational online tools pertaining to distribution for completed films or films nearing completion. Additionally, our expert consultants offer guidance and solutions to both new and seasoned filmmakers, including feedback, script analysis, treatment review, film festival and marketing strategy and review of funding proposals. We also provide resources for films that are in pre-production or still in production.

Our panel discussions and seminars at film festivals and educational institutions provide new filmmakers with the tools and insights necessary to succeed in the highly competitive film industry, and our team brings experience from all areas of the business; from graphic and web design to licensing, marketing, and contract law.
