Too Loud A Solitude
ABOUT THE PROJECT

LOGLINE
An aging book-crusher in occupied Czechoslovakia searches for beauty and meaning in a collapsing world through the books he rescues from destruction.

SYNOPSIS
Based on the beloved novella by Bohumil Hrabal, and containing all the magic still present in the twisted streets of Old Town Prague, TOO LOUD A SOLITUDE spins a tale of passion, beauty, and high moral stakes in the midst of a crumbling civilization. Hanta, our main character, is a simple, beer guzzling book crusher who from the outside appears filthy and reclusive. We learn, however, that he is brimming with inspired dreams of beauty, all culled from the magic words found in the books he rescues from destruction. From his encounters with buxom gypsies and hallucinated visits from famous philosophers, Hanta recounts an idyllic past full of love affairs and tragedies while having to confront an oppressive and soulless present that forces him down into the rat-infested sewers to search for a place where his dreams of beauty might still exist.

The film will be made with puppets, animation, visual effects, and stock footage, weaving together techniques old and new to create a visually captivating world where this inimitable story unfolds.
