A yeshiva boy from Brooklyn helps start the biotech industry, becomes the “King of Biotech” then loses it all as he struggles with bipolar disorder.

SYNOPSIS
The Blech Effect is a feature length documentary about the rise and fall of David Blech, the former “King of Biotech”. In his early 20’s, David was a pioneer investor in biotech companies and helped create an industry that has grown up to be on the bleeding edge of the world’s greatest medical cures and saves countless lives every year. David’s wealth grew with the industry and according to Forbes Magazine he was once worth more than 300 million dollars and on the Fortune 400 list. He became known as the King of Biotech and his influence on the market even coined the term “The Blech Effect”. But David struggled with bipolar disorder and a raging gambling addiction and through the years lost everything. Once David had hoped to be remembered for helping to create an industry that saves lives. Instead he is now 11 million dollars in debt, struggling to keep his family afloat, and awaits a jail sentence.
