ABOUT THE PROJECT
A brilliant tech editor plagued by terrifying psychological symptoms refuses to believe the revelation that she's not human—and the only cure that will save her is on another world.
SYNOPSIS / DESCRIPTION
Just as she's on the brink of perfecting a game-changing algorithm, high-achieving New Yorker Brandy is besieged by frightening and disruptive symptoms she can't control. Afraid she's losing her grip on reality and under pressure to save her skyrocketing career, she retreats to her childhood home in the Midwest to regroup. Once there, her symptoms escalate, despite being surrounded by family support... especially that of her beloved 7-year-old brother, Buddy. Soon, familiar faces become disturbing and newcomers challenge her in overwhelming ways.
Brandy desperately wants to finish her mathematical work and return to her life in New York, but she must get a clean bill of mental health first... and sanity is slipping through her fingers. Brandy is referred to hotshot therapist Dr. Parker, but her session with him shakes her to the core. She finds pieces of her own past in his space and realizes that she and the enigmatic Parker are connected in a way that is both deliciously magnetic and viscerally terrifying.
When young Buddy shares the ultimate insight into what is plaguing her, Brandy tumbles over a precipice into freefall. She is aching to get back to the life she created in New York and when Buddy attempts to stop her, Brandy turns on him in a way she didn't know she was capable of. That is when she discovers the unimaginable: it is reality—not her—that has changed. Ultimately, she will either risk death to maintain the life she knows or accept an existence that she cannot imagine in order to guarantee her own survival.
