Happy 2016 everyone!

TFC is heading to Sundance. Updates about key departments and initiatives are below. Also, look out for another book to be published this year! This one will have a film legal bent.

Oscar Nominations. TFC congratulates our clients THE HUNTING GROUND and RACING EXTINCTION on their Oscar® nominations for Best Origina Song! Our hat is also off to TFC alum Andrew Haigh for having his leading lady recognized: Charlotte Rampling scored a Best Actress nomination for 45 YEARS.

Festival Distribution. The Film Collaborative (TFC) is proud to be handling 2016 U.S. Doc Competition titles UNCLE HOWARD by Aaron Brookner and THE BAD KIDS by Keith Fulton and Lou Pepe for worldwide festival distribution. Also new: TFC is happy to announce that the 2015 film RACING EXTINCTION by Louie Psihoyus (The Cover) is now finally available for festivals, community and educational screenings worldwide. TFC should have another title signed by the start of the Festival. Visit our Festival Slate for more information.

Theatrical Distribution. The Film Collaborative Direct (TFCD) has continued to expand its theatrical releases. 2015 titles (T)ERROR and MANOS SUCIAS are independent Spirit Awards nominees. Our next film, the acclaimed Noam Chomsky doc REQUIEM FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM, opens January 29. Working with filmmakers on microbudgets and raising entire theatrical budgets via crowdfunding (THE HAND THAT FEEDS and (T)ERROR), we continue to look for ways to highllight the best of indie film at minimal to no cost to filmmakers. If you are interested in Hybrid-DIY theatrical or booking one of our films Bryan Glick will be at both Arthouse Convergence and Sundance. Visit our TFC Direct Theatrical Distribution for more information.

Digital Distribution. We can’t announce just yet, but in a few weeks we’ll reveal which film TFC negotiated a substantial worldwide Netflix deal for. The film, which will release simultaneously on Netflix and Transactional VOD platforms (via our Digital Flat-Fee Program), represents a great model for how DIY distribution, for the right film, can cut out extraneous middlemen and still be lucrative for the filmmaker. Visit our TFC Direct Digital Distribution program for more information.

Fiscal Sponsorship. The Film Collaborative supports emerging and established filmmakers and continues to attract compelling and powerful new projects. Our fiscal sponsorship program was created to help get projects funded, completed and seen. TFC is seeking projects telling great stories and are ready to start executing a funding strategy now. Our application is open and deadline is rolling. If you are interested in fiscal sponsorship for your project email to set up a meeting during Sundance or a phone consultation before or after the festival. For program details, please visit the Fiscal Sponsorship area of our website.

If you need to get in touch with us at Sundance, below is our contact info. (Please note that for urgent matters it may be better to text rather than call during Sundance. We will all have access to email, but we may take longer to respond.)
