westdoc

Hailed as the “go-to” conference for the Documentary and Reality communities, WESTDOC offers unparalleled access to Senior Network Executives, Program Buyers and top Production Companies. Back for its fourth year, this three-day event brings together preeminent producers, directors, writers, network executives, agents and distributors for insightful and unique seminars, a Master Class, as well as networking opportunities.

WESTDOC offers a wide array of panels, speakers and topics, providing a wealth of information and experience for delegates at every professional level. No matter whether you’re interested in traditional documentary filmmaking, reality TV development and production, or the brave new world of digital content creation and online distribution (or some combination of all three), WESTDOC has something for everybody in the non-fiction arena.

The third day of the conference is entirely devoted to PitchFest, a rousing live presentation for Documentary and Reality producers to pitch new concepts to network and development executives for potential acquisition in front of a live audience. The deadline is August 15th for submissions!

Our speaker list includes: Keynotes: Ondi Timoner, Kelly Day, Blip TV; Rory Kennedy, Mark Samels, PBS/American Experience; Greg Barker, HBO film “Manhunt”, Rick Allen, Snag Films; Andy Green, Distrify; and many more.

gbf Last month, Kalyanee Mam, Director of A RIVER CHANGES COURSE, returned to Cambodia to document the nation’s fifth national elections and to follow Khieu Mok, the garment factory worker in the film, back to her village and as she placed her vote in the ballot. They had an incredible screening in Khieu’s dormitory, with factory workers seated on the floor and peering from their balcony. Khieu was so happy to finally share the story of her struggles with her peers, a story she said, all factory workers share. This month Kalyanee and her Outreach Team are launching a grassroots campaign to bring the film to audiences across Cambodia and the US, and engage them in a global dialogue about globalization, sustainable development and environmental conservation. You can help make these village and university screenings in Cambodia possible by donating to their campaign at Rally.org today. Or organize a grassroots screening in your community by contacting Alexandra Pearson at alexandra@picturemotion.com.

iwantyourlove And BREAKING NEWS! TFC’s Travis Mathews/James Franco co-directed festival hit INTERIOR. LEATHER BAR. has sold to Strand Releasing today. You can read about it here.
